So short and yet so deep. The music and the visuals match perfectly, letting you embrace the beauty of the song and ultimately be saddened by its corruption.
Oh wow just tried typatone! I can see where you got the music from. It's pretty cool. Also just wanted to add, I really like your writing. It's deep but natural and very descriptive.
That’d be awesome. Honestly, games seem like a cool medium for so many things: storytelling, design, animation, music, etc. I’ve just started getting into indie games and it’s been fun so far
yeah, exactly, thats why i like making them so much - i dont really have talents with arts or coding, or even writing - but if you have a little bit of this and that, you can always put it together and amek a game. also i'm even jealous - you have so many cool games to discover. i can suggest my favorite ones if you want:>
NOOOO, Why'd she dieeeee??? The ending is so sadd, she just liked the songg 🥺
I really like the art style in this one, but the "using their weapon against them" was so sad because she wasn't a monster! At least that's what I see. Maybe some of the other sirens kill sailors and she could have been the only good one. Or maybe it was the other creatures in the sea that she passed along the way. Either way she didn't deserve to die
thank you for playing😭 i'm really sorry, but sirens actually eat people. for them its natural. back in ancient times sirens noticed that their songs make people so happy and extatic they didnt mind sirens eating them😨 From sirens' point of view it's not their fault. I like to show the world from a monster's perspective😈
uh. what. huh. i'm sorry? how did you manage to make something THIS good in under like three minutes???
i'm seriously floored at how concise you managed to make this, and still making it super interesting?? the writing was amazing throughout: the start was really elegant and abstract, making you intrigued by how much the song means to the protagonist; the small encounters felt very foreboding, both giving off the vibe of a fairytale and making you increasingly suspicious of what's actually making the sounds; and the ending was a really cool way to do worldbuilding and give exposition as to what happened. it was all so good, and it's a real feat how much you end up caring about the story considering how simple it is.
the art was really good! i know there wasn't much but the various animals and especially the main character's sprite were pretty neat. (SPOILERS) loved the ending where the character sprites fade into one another, loved the way the entire sea turns red, and loved the blur effects in the newspapers! (tho in some parts you were able to read the template text, but that's just a nitpick)
this is probably a really long comment for such a short game haha, but i'm legit impressed with the quality and conciseness of this! great job!! :D
OMGGMGMG I'm so glad you like it so much to write such a long review🥺 I honestly didnt expect that so many people would like this game i made in 1.5 days lol. I wanted to be sure to make it time(unlike previous jam), so i made it as small as possible😅 And tried to give a player hints about the protag and the lore just enough so they figure all the rest by themselves. It seems i succeded💙 thanks again this gives me a lot of motivation👍🏻 (especially because you're so good at writing stories too😉)
sorry about it😥 I like crazy plot twists, so i am actually glad it affects players so much, that was my intention. But i hope it doesnt mean you didnt like the game... I gave some hints for the lore, suggesting (spoilers) | | | | |
| | | | | | that sirens in that world are not innocent lambs, they are predators and really eat people. For them it's natural, it's a sacred ritual, the way to celebrate life. For people it's natural to think of them as monsters. There are no "good guys" and "bad guys" in the story. Again, sorry i made you feel bad. I probably should add some content warnings, but it always feels like spoiling the only intrigue about the game...
oh no no I thought it was a lovely little game!! I loved the atmosphere and the art was super cute its more just... I didn't expect it to be this way lol I thought it was kinda gonna end like a girl was singing and the siren kills her. So when I saw the stero my heart dropped because I was like oh no! It was a trap!! But then again like you said they're no good guys or bad guys. But seeing everything from the sirens view does make it a little more heart wrenching 💔
glad you liked it💙 Especially the art - i don't really have any talent for that😅 I also feel bad for Nerris - she was totally clueless about what happened...
This really was short, but also so tragic!! I love how Nerris seemed so carefree and curious. I really like the character design, especially her sparkly eyes and colorful hair! I also liked the art pieces in the game like the whale and speakers.
The shock I felt near the end- I was like "OH NO!!! ): " so, I think this definitely fits the horror aspect in a kind of heartbreaking way; especially since Nerris only just awoke! </3
This made me eager for more- i know it's a gamejam entry, but I think you have a solid enough foundation for a sequel/followup game with this! :3 Congrats on the release!!

You know. I kinda forgot that it was a horror game until the end. Nice job
Thank you! yes, i wanted it to be completely peaceful... until it's not😈
Short and sweet! Or rather... sour?
Great job :)
and also bitter:>
